It was business as usual one Monday afternoon at the office when we received a call from a young lady who wanted to purchase term life insurance for herself. Just for the sake of her privacy, we'll call her Lisa. Lisa expressed that several people that she grew up and went to school with had passed away in their early thirties within the past 2 years. Lisa had been putting it off for too long and finally decided to make the move to get covered since she had two little boys.
We did a Term Life Insurance with Living Benefits application with Lisa over the phone and everything went smoothly. She had all of her medical information at hand so the process went that much quicker.
After we finished the application process, out of nowhere, Lisa broke down crying over the phone. When asked if she was okay, Lisa said that her mother has Lou Gehrig's Disease and only has a few years left to live.
Lisa said that she tried to get life insurance for her mom but was turned down by five insurance companies and had lost all hope of getting insurance for her mom.
We advised Lisa that we would do everything we could to try and find coverage for her mother.
Even with the pre-existing condition of Lou Gehrig's Disease, we were able to get Lisa's mother a life insurance policy through one of our preferred providers. It wasn't a huge policy but it was enough to cover all of the funeral expenses which was a huge help for Lisa and her family since they didn't have the money to pay for a funeral.
It's such a great feeling to be able to help a family and give them piece of mind knowing that their loved ones will be taken care of. This is what makes us proud to do what we do.
